Your Internet Marketing Business Made Plain And Simple

An Internet Marketing Business doesn’t need to be complicated.

The majority of tutorials I see dive in at the deep-end; they start trying to teach you about value propositions, split testing, advanced conversion, traffic techniques, and a whole bunch of other concepts that are more likely to leave your head in a spin than they are to make you feel like this is a business you can make work.

I want to take a step back from this approach and start at the bottom, show you the ground-floor view of how to get started in this amazing home-based business model.

In this article I will show you the most basic business model, and explain the core elements you will need to get started with your work from home business.

Here is my definition of an Internet Marketing Business: Making use of the Internet to promote and sell a product or service.

Pretty plain and simple, right?

Essential Elements of a Sustainable Internet Marketing Business

The Most Essential Elements of a Sustainable Internet Marketing business are:

  • A Website
  • Something To Sell
  • An Autoresponder

Now, you might argue that technically you need neither a website nor something to sell – you could, for example, drive traffic to a CPA (Cost-Per-Action) website that you do not own and make money from that. You could also drive traffic directly to someone else’s website and collect affiliate commissions from any sales.

In both examples listed above you are heavily reliant on other peoples websites and/or products and services, and if they suddenly disappear on you, where does that leave your business?

Besides that, there is a far better, more effective, way that isn’t really any harder to implement.

So, with that idea in mind, the Internet Marketing Business model i want to explore involves having your own website, a way of following up with your prospects, and a subsequent offer of something to buy.

Ideally you want to be promoting and selling your own products and services as this will give you more leverage and control of the business, but you can also use affiliate offers to get you started, and i’ll explain how this works below.

Can you Really Build A Business Online Like This?

Absolutely, yes you can. What’s more, you can do this with a SINGLE page website, and the basic business model looks something like this:

Your one-page website has one function – to capture the email address of anyone who visits your site.

Once you have that email address, you can email them repeatedly over time (unless they unsubscribe),

which can be setup once in advance then automatically done for you by your autorepsonder program.

If you didn’t use this approach and drove traffic directly to an offer page you are instantly trying to sell something to your visitor, which will only work if that visitor was already online and looking to buy your specific product or service.

If they weren’t intending to buy, because they were only doing some research for example, and they don’t buy when they hit that sales page – you’ve lost that potential customer.

If you were capturing their email address first, even if they chose not to buy at the first exposure, you’ll have the opportunity to present the offer again another time, or other related offers via email marketing, and that’s where the autoresponder comes in.

Know, Like, & Trust

Typically, people are far more apt to buy something from people they know, like, or trust.

Since it takes time to build relationships with people before they will do any of those things, the only way this is likely to happen is through repeated contact with them.

For most people, it takes 7 – 12 touches, or contacts, before they make a purchase decision, so it’s vital for your business that you stay in touch.

Having the pre-written series of emails related to your product or service means you can keep in touch and build that relationship automatically without you having to do any extra work.

Set-up your email campaign once and leverage it with every single subscriber you get.

Your only job at this point is to get visitors to your webpage. Driving traffic is outside the scope of this article, however.

To quickly wrap up a comment made earlier – you can promote affiliate offers this way and in the event they disappear on you for whatever reason, you can go back and update your webpage and emails to promote some different, but highly relevant, offer in keeping with what your webpage was promoting – a different weight loss product that achieves the same goals, or a different traffic generation course.

The change in offer may mean minor changes to your webpage and emails, but it won’t mean a complete start over from the beginning, you can still leverage all those email addresses you have collected that were interested in that specific topic.
